A traumatic death can greatly intensify and complicate the grieving process of the survivors. Those grieving a traumatic death often find their lives are severely disrupted on many levels. Feelings that are common during grieving are escalated with traumatic death.
Feelings of anger can turn into violent feelings towards self and other, a person may feel terrorized, helpless, and endangered. People grieving a traumatic death may feel alienated and unable to talk about the death, which can further complicate grieving. Seeking out a trained counselor can be a tremendous help to those grieving a traumatic death.
