Sample Obituary
Betsie Marie Doe, age 94, a Wichita, Kansas resident for 47 years, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 16, 2009 at the Greater Metro Hospital in Wichita, Kansas after a long term illness.
Betsie M. (Brown) Doe was born on May 11, 1914 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to John H. Brown and Jane E. (Smith) Brown.
She married David A. Doe on June 17, 1936 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.
Betsie, along with her husband, David, owned the Little Paws Animal Rescue in Wichita, Kansas from 1948–1967. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; one son, Bob Doe; two brothers, Charles and Virgil Brown; and a grandson, Alex Doe.
Survivors include her two sons, Jesse and his wife, Patty of Wichita, Kansas and Larry and his wife, Sandy of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Carol Ross and her husband, Tony of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Loren Brown of San Antonio, Texas; twelve grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 28 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 2:00PM. at the First Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. Reverend Ronnie Clayton, Pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow the service at St. Jude's Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 19, 2009 from 1:00–9:00PM. The family will greet friends from 6:00–8:00PM.
A memorial has been established in Betsie’s name with the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718.
